PBS possible censor?

During a concert Paul McCartney gave at the White House last month he said

“After the last eight years, it’s great to have a president who knows what a library is”

However, PBS “excised” the comments from the filmed version of the concert, which is set to air on July 28th. There’s a bit of controversy as to when the comments were made and whether they were done after the cameras had stopped rolling. If PBS did indeed cut the comments, and they were made during the concert, that’s just plain wrong. Even if PBS airs a disclaimer that viewers are watching an edited performance, in this circumstance, that still is not enough bc the viewer would generally assume that simply means some songs were cut. Cutting commentary by the performer and airing the concert without specifically saying so creates a false reality, as the film will become the de facto record of that event.
