While I appreciate the sentiment of this ad, it does nothing to differentiate the product (Google’s Chrome browser) from similar products. In fact, all of the tech stuff shown in the ad - the youtube videos, the web searches, etc - has nothing to do with Chrome. While Google may in fact be true believers in the It Gets Better project, it’s blatantly cynical for them to piggyback their product onto the project’s feel-good mission (especially since there really is zero connection between the two). I don’t blame the project for allowing Google to run the ad - the marketing money and muscle Google provides will no doubt advance the cause. But on Google’s end this is branding at its most base, manipulative level.
